If alternates were enough to make people stop using animals then bikes would've stopped horse riding, sietan would've stopped meat eating, cotton would've stopped silk. All alternates are useless UNLESS we change our thought process and understand that animals are not resources.

Saw this line earlier and damn, as a vegan, the speciesism makes me laugh. Horses are the acceptable slaves, not us though! We are humans, the 'special' individuals who deserve freedom. At the end, what the elites do to the participants is what all of them do to the animals.

People who say slavery is bad but then buy meat, dairy, dogs, wool aka products of animal slavery - why cherry pick which slavery is bad and which is acceptable? This just shows that you're not really against slavery, but only against your preffered group being treated as slaves.

Comparing oppressed people to animals in a derogatory way is what non-vegans do. Animals are individuals not slurs & humans ARE animals. There's nothing derogatory about being compared to our animal cousins unless you exploit them & get offended at being compared to your victims.

We need to fucking move away from the thinking that an animal matters only if he/she serves as our 'pets'. Pet culture is as psychotic and unethical as meat culture or any other form of animal use (not to be confused with adoption/fostering). All animals have moral worth.
