Remembering Sergeant Paul McAleese, 2nd Battalion The Rifles, killed in an IED explosion while on foot patrol in Sangin, Helmand Province, Afghanistan on 20th August 2009 aged 29. Paul was born in Hereford. #Afghanistan #TheRifles

18 years ago, 20th Aug 2006, Cpl Bryan Budd VC of A Company 3 PARA was killed in action in the Sangin district centre, Afghanistan. He was awarded the Victoria Cross for two seperate actions during that tour of duty. He was a phenomenal leader and inspiration to his soldiers.
