A2 Effective leaders acknowledge and build on the strengths of those they lead. They lead with empathy and lead by example. #eduhive

A4 One barrier to teacher leadership could be administrative support (or lack thereof). Time is also an issue...it's hard to lead people who are too busy and exhausted to follow. #eduhive

A1 - I love buying new school supplies, even if I don't need them. Early August, I head to the store and stock up. #utedchat

A2 - In my English classes, I had my students analyze lyrics of popular songs. It makes rhetorical devices and figurative language more relevant to my kids. #utedchat

A3 - Having alumni come back and share their wisdom and experience with current students is powerful. I can tell my students something repeatedly, but hearing it from someone near their age makes all the difference. #utedchat

A5 We're trying to plan a multicultural event for our school community. Celebrate the diversity of cultures of the students in our building. #utedchat

I am completely dating myself with my answer to the bonus question. Rock Lobster stands out from high school dances. Mid-80s awesomeness! #utedchat

A1 Lean into the holidays. Tie it to the content when possible. I taught comparison/ contrast essays by having students interview one another about holiday traditions. They were fascinated by how/what others celebrated. #utedchat

A3 Having students interview one another about traditions was really powerful. They learned about other students' cultures and ideas. I also had some winter, rather than holiday, themed activities/brain breaks, so people who don't celebrate still feel a part of things. #utedchat

A4 In addition to tying holidays in to curriculum where possible, I also had winter-themed 5- minute brain breaks. Students could take a quick break and make a snowflake to hang from the ceiling or color holiday/winter pictures. #utedchat

A5 This is an area in which i could definitely improve. I totally admit that for many years, I assumed everyone looked forward to the holidays. #utedchat
