Once restaurants & bars reopen, they’ll have huge economic challenges given reduced capacity mandates. We should allow them to do more business outside: more outdoor/street seating & service. It’ll allow them to make up lost capacity + outside is a lower virus risk environment.

I really like these signs. So much better than "road closed" which continues to center the automobile as the primary audience.

It's another weekend without any Slow Streets in District 3, the densest part of San Francisco. This means: Cramped corridors for businesses No new open spaces for families Slower travel for essential workers District 3 should have had Slow Streets a month ago.

Children of meatpacking plant workers protest for safe working conditions: "You need meat for 2 weeks? I need my parents alive!" In a just world, this would get more attention than the wall-to-wall coverage that white people who want haircuts have gotten. klkntv.com/protesters-tak…

Work to create extra space for walkers, wheelers and cyclists by the Clyde is underway 🙌 The new lane will run from Saltmarket to Clyde Arc to ease pressure along the Clyde Walkway. #SpaceForDistancing will help smother spread of #coronavirus during active travel & exercise.

Restaurant owners are now in favor of using parking for outdoor seating and claiming its a boon for business. For years they complained any removal of parking for safe bike lanes would decimate their businesses. Business owners shouldn't have outsized voices in community outreach

We're hearing lots of calls for a return to normal in SF. Count me out. There's nothing normal about: a homeless shelter waitlist of 1,000+ a storefront vacancy rate of 18% a 1-BR rent of $3,600 Let's not go back to normal.

How on Earth can a "progressive" state justify maintaining a mortgage interest deduction for second homes while preparing to massively cut public education and damn near every other social serivce of value to low-income folks? This has been a subtweet of the CA Legislature.

Thinking about how a couple months ago, Dr. Destiny Deguzman (nee Thomas) said cities should think about just giving people bikes to go along with Slow Streets improvements. Instead, Uber is putting these on the scrap heap. Unconscionable
