Found the first book very useful both for myself and to introduce the topics to others, looking forward to reading the second one!

when money was free and interest rates were basically zero, the UK destroyed its public services in the pursuit of balanced budgets. Now money is expensive the UK going to borrow lots of it to spend on cutting taxes for rich people 😸

I'm looking to be in London from November to February supporting some schools with my intervention, can anyone recommend a place to find a decent short term rental? I would be based around Elephant and Castle, if anyone has any ideas I would be very grateful!

Looking forward to presenting part of a collaboration looking at instructional media, AR and teaching electrical circuits to undergraduates at #ESERA2023! Does anyone know if there is a way to read reviewers’ comments? Feedback is always good 😊 #iteachphysics

Really looking forward to speaking at CogSciSci the week after next. Come and join me to learn how to choose the right analogy to teach a topic, based around my own work with electricity. I’ll be bringing some of my workbooks to hand out too. Looking forward to seeing you there!

Great to see the mixture of teaching and research expertise on display in this lineup. Looking forward to guiding anyone attending through analysing analogy and sharing the materials that I’ve been working so hard on. Not to mention attending other talks!

About half way through this very compelling and easy to read book and can agree with the sentiments expressed here. It’s really positive to see the neuroscience roots of “thinking together” expressed in such a barrier free and well referenced form.

Really useful framework for constructing and analysing analogies from Thomas Sean Weatherby. So much work goes into doing this well. Definitely something I need to think more about. #CogSciSci23

Thanks to Chris for helping me with the technology and being a good conversation partner when talking about the ideas in my presentation!

#twlz #physikedu

A wonderful first day at #ESERA2023. Lots of interesting talks already, in a really enjoyable international environment. Looking forward to seeing the breadth of Science Education Research in the next few days!

'It’s almost taking the power away from teachers': UCL Institute of Education psychologist Peter Blatchford warns that education research today is telling schools 'what works' in teaching without fully understanding the complex interactions within classrooms tes.com/magazine/teach…

Wrote a web app as an offshoot of my #PhD. You can put a text you want to use in the classroom in and it will generate a list of words that might prove tricky for your class. thomas-weatherby.com/textplain.html Works in English and German #twlz #iteachphysics LMK if it's useful!

My research into the use of cognitive science in the classroom means I read lots of research papers. The more I read, the less clear cut things become. I find it problematic when schools don't acknowledge these limitations and present ideas as established fact.

As someone who produces research, I couldn’t agree more. I have to publish in a scholarly fashion, but when I disseminate to teachers I do this voluntarily! Using, implementing, disseminating and giving me feedback on my research are all very valuable things.

Privileged to be part of this scheme and great to be there on the day. Left feeling enthused and ready to take on the challenges of teaching secondary. What a lovely and knowledgeable bunch of people the Ogden Trust and IOP support for teaching physics have got together!
