The last day of the Gold DoE expedition. All groups up early for the last leg, heading towards Glen Nevis. Slightly wet overall but all groups have done incredibly well and still smiling. Teachers still smiling too despite Miss Pettit's tough routes!

Making the parallel and perpendicular components of weight on a ramp a bit more tangible 😏 The tension forces from the hanging masses provide the equilibrium needed to remove the ramp altogether. 😮 #iteachphysics

FYI to those who have students taking the Oxford PAT entrance exam - the exams are online this year and students have to use the calculator that's part of the software. The calculator has quite an old syntax - your students might need training in how to use it.

I was really happy with this review before tomorrow's circular motion test 😀 1. Draw a labeled force diagram 2. Assuming that net force is 100 N and weight is 30 N, calculate all other forces 3. Figure out which scenario doesn't work with these values 😏 #iteachphysics

Rubens tubes were originally used for demonstrating acoustic standing waves in physics labs. Musician Moises Alves turned them into a form of art.

Thank you to everyone who has submitted snow depth reports over the weekend to weatherquest.co.uk/snowdepth/map ❄️ Here's a closer look at the extraordinary snowfall event in Cumbria, based on a blend of submitted reports and radar estimates — some locations received well over 30cm!

Great discussion point for lessons on gravitational field strength- so why IS this? g is not always the number 9.8... red is higher, blue is lower. Not sure who to credit but thanks!
