Every time I visit sites on the Somme battlefield, I’m left in awe of the courage those that remain there have shown and also those that had to come to terms with the loss of someone special in their life. I couldn’t fathom how difficult it was to write this epitaph. Commonwealth War Graves

Spent wet & chilly day continuing systematic metal detecting survey on the battlefield at #Cheriton1644 with Sam Wilson Will Reid Julian Humphrys & Winchester Archaeology and Anthropology students. Much better than being in the office answering emails (sorry if you're waiting for a reply).
It was such a pleasure to welcome the British Army 🇬🇧 1st Battalion London Guards Army Reserve (Ypres Coy) to Richmond Cemetery to care for the Commonwealth War Graves casualties and to pay their respects after.
