First CCHF patient dosed today in the UMIT-1 trial in Turkiye! An amazing team at the Dr Abdurrahmem Yurtaslan phase 1 centre and great support from MoH, WHO and MEDEX. A lot of work to get to this point - but CCHF patients haven’t got time to wait ! 👍 GuardRx/TPI for funding.

Fully agree. Not helpful. Whilst we urgently need new tools for CCHF, lockdown won’t be one of them. Risk to UK very low, very different to situation in Turkiye, Iraq and Afghanistan.

Furious that disease is as well-armed as the warring parties, but it gets no attention.” - James Elder for UNICEF, with Dr Margaret Harris for World Health Organization (WHO), briefing on #Gaza

There is a crisis in clinical academia in the UK. We talk of the need to expand medical schools, embed research into the NHS to improve care, & the importance of a vibrant life sciences sector for the economy of the UK, & yet we seem unable to tackle the underlying issues 1/9
