On this day in 2022, the tide at Sydney’s Bronte Beach was perfect for a dip in the famous Bogey Hole. Off to the right is the ocean pool, but in the centre the mostly natural pool is very dependent on the height of the water, so check your tide charts.

On this day in 2022 I was in a hillside overlooking Rome. What a joy. So much pre and post Christ history. I want to go back.

Another previously unpublished pic. This morning had a glorious dawn, but on this day in 2018, the fog visited Sydney Harbour. The bridge had a pretty shroud.

There’s an old argument about who owns Sydney’s Little Oxford Street. The folk of Surry Hills say the straight line of Oxford Street is the border between the two suburbs, while Darlinghurst dwellers say it’s a higgledy piggledy demarcation.

On this lovely spring morning, I have a gift for you. It is tiny, but it’s the thought that counts. This little begonia flower is a delight.

On what looks like a cool, cloudy dawn at Sydney’s Bronte Beach ocean pool is only partly correct. It is cloudy, but the forecast of 39C will be the hottest October day on record if we get there. I’ve watered the garden and have washing on ready for the line.

"Trump lavished the prime minister with praise and Albanese lavished back without appearing sycophantic. He maintained his dignity with charm and good humour. It was definitely a 10/10 in diplomatic and political terms." Malcolm Turnball - SMH

A much cooler dawn and day ahead for Sydney. A placid scene as I looked across the harbour from Barangaroo Reserve to North Sydney.

Colonial Sydney cherished Blackwattle Bay. When first used, the bay was a swampy inlet fed by a creek that ran from its eastern end. Industrial use by tanners and slaughter houses caused the area to be fouled by noxious fumes and there were many complaints by the residents.

When first light was trying to push through the clouds, I made my way to Blues Point. Apart from a piece of contentious architecture behind, it is a peaceful place to take in the glories of Sydney Harbour.

The glow of dawn is behind me as I look at the scene of a Sydney ritual. You dive or jump in on one side of Clovelly Bay, swim to the other side, run around the bay, then repeat.

In the late 1970s, I briefly lived in Sydney’s Kirribilli, not on the harbour foreshore, but next to a noisy expressway. This shot is from the Beulah Street Wharf. It’s popular with fishers, but seldomly visited by ferries.

I love the somewhat timeless nature of the old dunny lanes of Sydney. This one is in the glamorous suburb of Paddington, but looks the same as the lanes in the less salubrious suburbs. It felt like autumn this morning. Cool and cloudy.
