The biggest lesson from '24 - and a lesson I have seen no pundit touch - is that lying works. "They are eating dogs and cats" did not hurt Trump a bit in the end. Amazing this goes undiscussed.

Joking aside, I think we should all be genuinely freaked out right now that the president-elect is calling for a *pollster* to be investigated because she released a bad poll

Just for the record, birthright citizenship is one of the greatest things the United States ever did for itself. Truly a gift that has done nothing but give and give and give.

The granolafication of the right is due to high/low trust polarization. If you're the type of person who thinks The Man is putting poison in food for reasons that are never really clear, you're much more likely to be a Republican now.

People just uncritically blame NAFTA for things that predated NAFTA by wide margins, like the deindustrialization of the Rust Belt during the 1970s and 80s, or weren't related to NAFTA at all, like job losses due to aggressive manufacturing automation and consolidation later.

When Trump fired James Comey in 2017, it was a nearly impeachment-level scandal because it was (rightly) regarded as an egregious abuse of power. Now he's going to fire Comey's successor, again for no legitimate reason, but no one cares because Trump has normalized abusing power

The inflation reduction act funded 146 projects in West Virginia, representing thousands of jobs and millions of dollars but sure democrats “abandoned” it.

I’ve been consistent in my belief that if TikTok divested itself of CCP control it should be allowed to stay, but the fact that they prefer to shut down entirely and that they are actively pushing people to an app named after MAO’S LITTLE RED BOOK has certainly raised my eyebrow
