A person who pauses before reacting is a powerful person.

When we ghost someone, we leave them questioning themselves and their self-worth, simply because we couldn't take a moment to confront them. We need to educate people on the skill of having difficult conversations.

A severe limitation of psychology is too many experts on particular “topics”, without enough expertise on their own inner experiences. How are you going to write articles telling us what to do with emotions when you avoid and intellectualize your own?

On Becoming a Person - Carl Rogers (1961): in my early professional years I was asking the question, How can I treat, or cure, or change this person? Now I would phrase the question this way: How can I provide a relationship which this person may use for his own personal growth?

In light of the theme ‘Loneliness’ for Mental Health Awareness Week, my hope for those of us seeking connection with ourselves, others and the world, is that we find our tribe…wherever we feel most at home - whatever it looks like.
