The irony is that the only thing Hasan is broadening is his own wallet. He has no appeal beyond to a small group of far-left extremists.

I am going to bet that when the government of Niger collapses and that country is overrun by ISIS, Hasan and co will blame the CIA, or Israel, or something.

God... you reminded me of Syria. Arguably an even bigger Obama foreign policy fuck up than his Ukraine policy. We should have just listened to the French in 2014 and kill Assad.

Kraut (@the_davos_man) 's Twitter Profile Photo

You kidding? Not only is this an oversimplification of what foreign policy is about, but there have also been some amazing left of centre leaders in foreign policy. Olof Palme, Helmut Schmidt, Willy Brandt, Bruno Kreisky, Martti Ahtisaari, Madeleine Albright, Lester Pearson.

Kraut It was so INSANE Obama went “if you use chemical weapons we will end you” and Assad basically never broke eye contact while dumping sarin on his people and Obama fucking CHOKED Asked Putin to ask Assad to pwetty pweaze stop doing that while using domestic politics to save face

Lester Pearson is an often forgotten Liberal Canadian prime minister who was amazing in foreign policy. He negotiated the end to the Suez crisis, founded the U.N peacekeepers, is a founding father of NATO, and played an important role in deescalating the Cuban missile crisis.

Kraut The greatest foreign policy in history was helping others like Marshall Plan, Lend lease, Berlin Air Lift, etc. Assisting those who are vulnerable achieved more than going in with guns blazing.

One foreign policy question I'd like to see answered is why Finland produces the best diplomats of Europe. From Urho Kekkonen, to Martti Ahtisaari, to Sauli Niinistö, to Alexander Stubb. Finnish presidents are always at the forefront of European foreign policy successes.

Kraut I’m no expert on our own FP, but our history seems to have taught us to hope for the best while preparing for the worst. My dad always said one Finnish negotiation tip is "never to arrive on an empty stomach, as what’s offered from the host may come with unspoken expectations".

Deliberate German terror bombings of civilian town and city centres before the Battle of Britain: 🇪🇸 Guernica 1937 🇵🇱 Lublin 1939 🇵🇱 Radom 1939 🇵🇱 Wielun 1939 🇵🇱 Warsaw 1939 🇧🇪 Brussels 1940 🇧🇪 Antwerp 1940 🇳🇱 Rotterdam 1940 🇫🇷 Amiens 1940 🇫🇷 Orleans 1940 Shut the fuck up.

Oh they care about foreign policy. They just suck, are stupid, or evil. From "journalists" like Ryan Grim to influencers like Hasan to twitter shitters like Sami Gold. Iranian regime apologia, support of Russia, or conspiracies about how Jimmy Carter secretly ran the Khmer Rouge.

The bombing of Rotterdam deliberate, denial of that is little more than a Neo Nazi myth, spun out of the fact that the Dutch were already negotiating their surrender. The fact that the Nazis bombed Rotterdam despite those surrender negotiations, shows how vile they were.

The communist take over of China was the fault of Chiang Kai-shek. Not the Truman state department, who merely correctly determined that the civil, which Chiang Kai-shek foolishly started, was a lost cause.
