It’s always fun to work with the folks at the Research Translation Core Superfund @ Duke. Thanks for the opportunity to share some of the research I do in the Meyer lab @MeyerLabatNSOE!

Incredibly proud to be included among the list of 1000 inspiring black scientists in America. Many on this list have indeed been an inspiration for me as colleagues, collaborators, mentors and friends. crosstalk.cell.com/blog/1000-insp…

This began as a column on centering Indigenous rights in federal energy policy. But the more I wrote, the more I found myself focusing on why editors and reporters—not just politicians—desperately need to reorient their understanding of tribal sovereignty: newrepublic.com/article/162350…

Did you know that the powerhouse of the cell has its own genome that is important for health?🧬Exposures to chemicals may impact mitochondrial DNA. There is a lot more we need to learn, but summarizing what is known so far in this #environmentalhealth review was a ton of fun!

So excited to see my PhD research from @MeyerLabatNSOE officially out, and more excited to share with everyone at #ICEM2022 Environmental Mutagenesis and Genomics Society in a few days! Do chemicals that cause mtDNA damage result in mutations? academic.oup.com/nar/article/50…

Excited to share a preprint of my recent work showing variation in susceptibility to 10 different #PFAS chemicals in wild C. elegans. Genetic variation impacts sensitivity, but this varies by PFAS structure, leaving a lot of mechanistic toxicology work to pursue. Ideas welcome!

Just in time for NC Gov Roy Cooper’s #PFAS Awareness Week: ncnewsline.com/2024/06/03/mon… There are an estimated >15,000 PFAS in production today. “Forever chemicals” are dangerous to health, and only 6 now have established regulatory levels.
