Those Marines did not die in vain. Close to, if not more than, 100k people have been evacuated because of their actions. They were among the first on the ground to help. Marines answered the call and did what Marines do, help the helpless. Semper Fidelis Marines.

We can confirm at this time 10 Marines were killed in the line of duty at Hamid Karzai International Airport. Additionally, several more were wounded and are being cared for at this time. We mourn the loss of these Marines and pray for their families.
