I recently saw 'Narrative in Documentary' at the #SWF. I was probably the youngest person there by about 20 years #outofplace #yolo

The speakers on the panel were Quentin Dempster, Celeste Geer, Morag Ramsay and Rick McPhee. The diversity of experiences were refreshing.

Rick had only done one documentary. It was great to hear about the problems he faced and how he overcame them. I found it very #inspiring

Morag and Celeste compared their editing process during the session. They were so different! Definitely didn't realise how vast it could be.

Celeste creates a complexity of engagement through juxtaposing sounds, images, music. I will definitely consider this from now on in my work

Overall, the session was engaging. As a viewer I absorbed the discussion with a greater appreciation for narrative in particular. #bravo

Main points I learned from the session: keep the viewer guessing, create trust with your characters and utilize the strength of the visual.
