Colour ringing Black Tailed Godwits helps us build up a picture of their life, one bird ringed in 2015 and seen each year since is typical: August to March: The Swale and Medway April - July: Iceland Hopefully it is already in Iceland. #waders

We have just received a recovery report of a Redshank ringed on Sheppey as an adult in Oct 2011 and caught by ringers in Iceland in June 2020 - almost nine years later. #waders

News this week of a Dunlin ringed in the Swale in January 2020 as a adult, recaptured at Ottenby in July this year. The 62nd interchange of Dunlin between us and Otenby. #waders #birds

The weather finally allowed us to get out for a session on Saturday evening. Seven of us took a catch of 24 birds including the 4th ever Brent Goose ringed by us (the first since 2004). We also retrapped a Dunlin ringed by us in 2012 and another had a Finnish ring on. #waders

On Saturday night a large team of 11 braved the cold and went to Harty Marshes on Sheppey. We caught 35 Knot, 2 Bar Tailed Godwit and singles of Dunlin, Redshank and Barn Owl. The Redshank was colour ringed and one of the Knot was ringed by us in 2013 as an adult.
