Philadelphia Birthday Show 🎂

Last night was like eating warm nourishing food. Several generations of black Americans coming together to cleberate the Black Music City Grant was beautiful. Thanks to REC PHILLY for holding space and WXPN and WRTI Music for keeping the program going and growing.

On this day in 1968, Shirley Chisholm became first black woman elected to the United States Congress.

I really do think that this is the time to invest in community and protect our resources more than ever. If you have time, volunteer, raise funds, march, etc. Don’t make it easy for people to take our right away. We can’t depend on the government to have best interests at heart.

At this point, the only thing us musicians can do is focus on making music, creating, and joining local orgs/ getting involved with your community. So that’s what I’m gonna go focus on. Music can provide a respite in these ridiculously confusing, chaotic times.
