Today a training doctor from a greek long covid clinic said they don’t believe in long covid and try to see “what else is wrong with them” at their patients. When the person talking to them asked “have you even read the literature on long covid?” He said “not really”. #longcovid

I’ve been married for 18 years and practicing medicine post-specialization for 16 years but never had the chance to work at the same hospital as my wife, until this opportunity popped up! Roaming the hallways Temple Health this week with my wife was special!

There needs to be better appreciation and discussion of the fact that POTS can be "POTS alone" or it can coincide with ME/CFS. The latter is a very different situation and has serious implications for how to manage the condition.

Apparently my right (heart) atrium is dilated… 29cm2…. But the consultant only seems to have read the MRI conclusion as he missed that bit and wrote in my letter my MRI is normal, copying in the conclusion notes.

High-Dose IV Vitamin C: My Clinical Perspective on Its Role in Long COVID, ME/CFS and MCAS I’ve seen meaningful benefits using high-dose IV vitamin C as an adjunct in complex post-viral and mast-cell-related syndromes. Here’s why I think it deserves more attention 🧵

One of the worst things about this disease is the feeling of being trapped. During my brief baseline boost, that feeling was almost nonexistent. I felt freer than I have in years. Since my decline, it’s back and probably worse than ever.

Seeing someone 20, 30, 40 years into this disease who finally decides to choose MAID or take their own life is especially jarring and heartbreaking. Just shows how it’s impossible to ever get used to this level of suffering and loss.

Please read the entire article. What galls me is that there is nothing 'astonishing' about this; it was absolutely predictable. The reasons are multi-factorial, but low uptake of flu and Covid vaccines (and very tight eligibility for the latter) are a large part of the problem.

A big difference between AIDS and COVID-caused immune damage is that there is highly effective treatment to prevent HIV progressing to AIDS. There is nothing to treat SARS2 viral persistence. It took many years for HIV to be controlled with drugs. How long will it take for SARS2?

1/ Imagine you’re waiting for ice cream. 🍦 There’s one pro scooping — fast, smooth, efficient. Now she’s replaced by 3 helpers who sort of know what they’re doing. They spill more, take longer, and keep asking for help. That’s what’s happening inside the NHS. Welcome to

Being a full time trainee is no joke is it? I’ve spent the vast majority of my weekend so far on work - portfolio, revising for membership exams, preparing for PILS/NLS, audit/QI and I’ve still more to do. Telling myself it will all get easier/be worth it in time…

Doctors in training are encouraged to consult with senior colleagues when uncertainties arise. However, resident doctors may face reprimand for excessive contact with senior staff. This dynamic often stems from an environment of apprehension and detachment fostered by some

I was told my 1 week bereavement leave had to be unpaid while I came back to resume my on call duties. Do you have to take a pay cut when your family member passes away too Wes Streeting ?? While dealing with life and death everyday??Highly doubt it.

Hello everyone, It’s now been six months since I started taking low-dose Abilify (LDA). I’m not sure whether it’s still having any effect or not. I increased the dose very, very, very slowly, and I’m only at 0.5 mg. Ideally, I’d like to stop and maybe restart in a few months,
