On 2nd January 1942, the Lord Mayor of Stoke-on-Trent, Harry McBrine, opened a fund for the relief of the dependents of those who lost their lives in the Sneyd Colliery Disaster, the day before. Sneyd Collieries Ltd opened the fund with a contribution of £5000 Lidice Lives 81🌹🇬🇧🇨🇿

The former hq of the Sentinel. How can such a significant building in Stoke-on-Trent's history be allowed to get into such a state? There's even a tree growing out of the roof. I worked there in the 80s when sales of the paper were over 125,000 a day.

The Boundary Works, built by Jacob Marsh (a potter of Toby jugs) in 1819, looks incredibly precarious. If the city isn't watchful it's going to have yet another heritage disaster on its hands...
