My name is Klaartje Henrietta Ziekenoppasser-Dormits. I was born in Saint Paul, USA, #OTD in 1911. 33 years later, I was imprisoned in #Auschwitz. I was murdered on 28 February 1943 as a result of complications after sterilization experiments conducted by Carl Clauberg.

Working with the Emergency Rescue Committee, American journalist Varian Fry helped some 2,000 anti-Nazi refugees escape France and immigrate to the United States. French police arrested Fry #OTD in 1941, and he returned to the US in October 1941.

Holland deported more of its Jews than any other country. Anne Frank was an exception, but ultimately met this fate. So did Hartog Roodveldt, born in Amsterdam in January 1932. On 31 August 1943 he was deported from Westerbork to Auschwitz. After selection - murdered by gas.
