Well, what a shocker. I'm checking in for my flight on British Airways tomorrow, and once again, I must enter my passport details. If only there were some form of technology that could save this information. Has nobody at BA ever heard of a database? 🤔

Am I the only one that thinks the UI for iMovie is absolutely terrible? To select a portion of video, drag the mouse while holding the R key. Who thought that would be in any way intuitive? 🤦‍♂️

I'm off to the US this weekend. Just under two weeks in San Diego, Las Vegas, Nashville and Atlanta. I'm going with an open mind and hope to talk to many people there to try and understand the current situation. To assist me, my reading for the flight is "Deer Hunting with Jesus"

I can only assume the British Airways IT systems were developed by an intern. For example, when I enter my date of birth, I get a warning message that the date is incomplete as soon as I enter the day. No shit, how can I enter three values simultaneously?

WTAF? According to the British Airways chatbot on X, which seems to be stuck four years ago, you need to provide proof of vaccination. This requirement was dropped two years ago. The usual problem with AI: GIGO.

It’s insane to think that the Trump administration was more welcoming this week to the Tate brothers than to the President of Ukraine.

It’s incredible to see the Java community thriving after 30 years! I’m honored to keynote Duke Turns 30 and take a look back at Java’s journey. Let’s celebrate together and explore how Java continues to shape our world.azul.com/duke-turns-30-…

The new website look for British Airways is so good, I can't even login using Google Chrome (it just loops me back to the home page without asking for credentials). Just how bad can their IT systems get?

Outstanding customer service from TfL this morning. The 0630 District line from Richmond was cancelled but you couldn’t even be bothered to make an announcement. Big round of applause 👏👏👏

Hey, Nationwide, why do you bury verification messages under settings -> security? These are *not* settings, but messages. Under the 'help' section, it says verification messages can be accessed from the menu in the app. This is not helpful, or useful.

Steve Elliott was my host manager when I joined Sun back in 1996. He and I share an obsession with keeping Java memorabilia; he has way more than I do. Check out his 30 years of Java photo compilation here: flickr.com/photos/jabberw…

I honestly thought British Airways IT systems could not be beaten for how bad they are. Obviously, I hadn't tried Iberia. I guess they are both part of the same group...

Anybody else think the Monaco Grand Prix was a complete waste of time? Driving slowly to back up other drivers so your teammate can get a free pit stop is not what I want to watch as Formula 1. The two pit-stop rule change made for a ridiculous "race".

What’s going on, Iberia ? You’re letting all of group 1 and 2 through boarding, yet there’s nowhere for us to go. Chaos ensues!

Simon Ritter (@speakjava) 's Twitter Profile Photo

I genuinely didn't believe this was possible. But it is. Iberia has worse IT systems than BA. Here's the message I got when I tried to use the online check-in this morning.

Why is everything online such a struggle? American Express UK Ask Amex, you sent me a message saying I'm near my credit limit. OK. I use your app, and it shows transactions that are only a third of the way to my limit. How can you not provide accurate information?
