1/4 We use counterfactual simulations to explore the impact of homophily and mobility range on segregation experiences based on a smartphone dataset of ~320,000 individuals in Sweden.

2/4 Heterogeneous effect of mobility on segregation: Native-born experience minimal segregation during outside-home activities, while foreign-born residents remain relatively segregated.

3/4 Key role of mobility ranges: Homophily has a marginal effect on segregation among foreign-born individuals. Instead, differences in mobility ranges are crucial, with foreign-born individuals traveling shorter distances.

4/4 Impact of transport accessibility: Limited mobility ranges of foreign-born individuals are linked to lower car ownership and reduced transport accessibility. Improving transport accessibility is crucial for reducing social segregation.
