On Day 1, we had a very long but amazing day. We met with four different groups in Panabaj, who talked about their stories and the realities of living in a high risk zone. #CoV12 Cities on Volcanoes 12 Ixchel Project School of GeoSciences @ University of Edinburgh

Careers day at the @ourdynamicearthwas was so much fun! Talked about volcanoes 🌋, mass flows, landslides🏔️ and the work we do at School of GeoSciences @ University of Edinburgh and the British Geological Survey. Only some monopoly houses were harmed in the process of illustrating mass flow hazards.

My home country, Cyprus 🇨🇾 , the only EU Council member under illegal occupation from Turkey 🇹🇷, a NATO member for half a century (50 years)! How can NATO, a defensive alliance, support the illegal invasion and occupation of Cyprus by Turkey 🇹🇷? Ursula von der Leyen Jens Stoltenberg

🚨Our paper on Bidisperse Granular Flows, flow regimes and the examination of scale-dependent processes in lab experiments🔬 and rock avalanches🏔️ is now available #OpenAccess - JGR-Earth Surface: agupubs.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/full/10.10… @Irene_Manzella, Alessandro Sgarabotto, Earth Sci @ Plymouth

Two weeks ago, we were in Abruzzo 🇮🇹 studying a rock avalanche with a fantastic team from Università di Bologna. Excited to see the deposit's ER tomography soon... I do feel like a landslide doctor now🩻. Here's a preliminary graphic summary of the study—arrows and scale to come!

📢 PhD opportunity with School of GeoSciences @ University of Edinburgh & British Geological Survey! Apply by Jan 6, 2025. Study landslide triggers in deglaciating volcanoes/mountains. Gain skills in lab experiments, numerical modeling, & remote sensing. e4-dtp.ed.ac.uk/e5-dtp/supervi…🌋🗻

🌋🚨 Not one, but TWO PhD positions now recruiting in Dublin UCD Earth Sciences, supervised primarily by Claire Harnett - the projects will focus on modelling the effect of hydrothermal alteration on volcanoes. Deadline: 22nd January #findaphd
