"Children's books are the most important books you'll ever read. These are books that can help you understand about the world, they can let you escape from the world for a while, but they can also inspire you to build a better world."

My fruit and veg shop was elbow-to-elbow, trolley-to-trolley, but lots of cheery ‘can you throw me a bunch of baby carrots’ and ‘oh you go first you only have potatoes’. #ChristmasSpirit

14,813 Australians died from Covid in 2022. Covid is currently the country’s second most deadly disease. Why aren’t we talking about this? #CovidIsNotOver

I've said it before, I'll say it again: READING FOR PLEASURE has the biggest impact of any factor on children's life chances. If they're reading & enjoying it, everything else will follow. So please never stop reading to them & with them - it will change their lives! #literacy

Sydney morgues struggling to cope with number of people dying. The cognitive dissonance that must be required to accept these numbers without acting to control the pandemic is mind boggling. smh.com.au/national/nsw/m…

Ten women have been killed in Australia in 20 days. That's five times the average of one woman every 10 days. It's indefensible, writes Kristine Ziwica – and so is the silence in the face of these deaths. crikey.com.au/2023/02/09/men…

Apparently this STILL needs spelling out. Nothing we do EVER CAUSES, EXCUSES OR JUSTIFIES OUR ABUSERS HURTING US. Victims DO NOT MAKE THEIR ASSAILANTS HURT THEM. They ASSAULT US. WE ARE ASSAULTED BY THEM. This dangerous narrative of victim-blaming needs to STOP Repeat FOREVER💔

An excellent response to Hazel Edwards’ recent opinion piece in The Age in which she insisted that she should be able to write from the POV of any minority group she wants meanjin.com.au/blog/dear-youn…

Tried to talk male violence with Dan Beaumont Cut off for a man. Elliot says women shld protect themselves more! He dilutes an urgent issue to suggest men bashing. All men must unequivocally voice strident opposition to violence, it's not a 'women's issue'. #violenceagainstwomen
