My group is hiring an aerosol research scientist (i.e., postdoc with better salary, $70-90k) to work on wearable sensor technologies, env justice, CBPR. Looking for a PhD with skills in aerosols, env health, exposure, and data sci (R / Python). #Colorado jobs.colostate.edu/postings/120255

I ❤️ low-cost sensors for PM air pollution (eg PMS5003, SPS30). But they have serious limitations. They cannot see particles > 1 micron. PM1 👍🏻 😀 PM2.5 🧐 PM2.5-10 👎🏻😬 PM10 👎🏻 ☹️ Networks like #PurpleAir should stop reporting PM10 and coarse PM. doi.org/10.1021/acs.es…

VCPs (deodorants, cleaning prods, paints, etc.) are a source of OVOCs in cities. Sreejith S (MS) shows in doi.org/10.1021/acs.es… that VCP OVOCs have high SOA potential and VCP use (e.g., fragrances) can be more important than vehicles for urban secondary PM2.5.

Abe (MS and now at Ramboll), in his recently published paper (pubs.rsc.org/en/content/art…), shows that kinetic models can get the photochemical evolution of smoke particles right over short timescales (< 1 day) but not for long-range transport (~1 week). Smoke chemistry is complex!
