Last week, I had the pleasure of joining residents of the Emory L. Bennett VA Nursing Home and their family members for a special Japanese steakhouse dinner, graciously organized by the Veterans Support Fund.4o

I was honored to attend the Volusia Flagler Police Chiefs Association’s Law Enforcement Memorial. We will never forget the heroes who gave everything in service to our communities. Their legacy lives on in each officer who continues to serve.

Friday I was at the opening of the Thrift Store. Backpack Buddies provides backpacks filled with nutritious food every Friday during the school year, to two schools in the western part of Volusia County. Proud to be a member of the Backpack Buddies Board of Directors.

It was a privilege to join the Ponce Inlet community for their Memorial Day Ceremony. Grateful to stand alongside veterans, families, and local leaders as we honored those who gave their lives in service to our nation. Their sacrifice will never be forgotten.

John was a special man who treated me with so much respect and I will miss him deeply. He was someone who we all thought of as a mentor, a friend and a genuine defender for all Floridians. May he rest in peace and continue to serve in the house of the Lord.

There was such an incredible protection detail at the Ocean Center during the many Volusia Senior Class Graduations.

Two great Republicans were winners in the June 10th special elections in Brevard County last night. I look forward to the return of Senator Deb Mayfield and our newest House Representative Brian Hodgers. Congratulations to all that assisted in supporting Deb and Brian.

I was honored to attend the swearing in ceremony for our new CFO, Blaise Ingoglia. I look forward to the great things he will accomplish in this new role and am especially eager to support him in his responsibilities as State Fire Marshal.

Yesterday, we lost Hulk Hogan. I had the honor of meeting him at a Barrett-Jackson auction in West Palm, where he was raising money for veterans, children, and cancer patients. He was a kind man with a big heart. He will be missed.
