Great question asked after my presentation ‘why do I think there is a polar debate over manual therapy eg hands ‘On’ vs. ‘Off’. #physio18

thematic analysis well used in other fields such as social sciences and has lots of ways of helping us understand practice

Am going through the submission process to MSK science and practice currently - its been reviewed once and following reviewers comments and subsequent revision and edit I resubmitted a few weeks ago....... 🤞🤞

Thanks for voicing my work @PhysioChris from my perspective I think my research suggests that we should be asking different types of question about MT in the context of practice and understanding how modalities fit within conceptions of practice

Thank you for your comments - my first time presenting it so glad it came across well - I hope others find it thought provoking also!

Thanks Chris. Glad to hear its intrigued you - I think its a fascinating topic with many more questions that can be asked of it - gotta plug the value of qualitative research here!

Really hard!!!! I left it alone for 9/12 after finishing and then going back to its was a motivational challenge BUT so glad I have. I put so much work into doing the research I felt compelled to try and publish it - not that I have yet!. Is yours Qualy or Quanti?

Refreshing to see Paula Deacon @shaunr87 @PhysioChris challenging routine x-rays in diagnosis of frozen shoulder this weekend 👍🏼 #physio18 Masquerading pathology is rare 0.08% Sena et al 2010 👉🏼ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/m/pubmed/19574… History and exam alone often sufficient to make diagnosis

Agree with all the above and from a clinical practice perspective - patient oriented letters have been a paradigm shift for me - helping to reframe and personalise the healthcare encounter

Will king Jo Gibson Professor Jeremy Lewis PhD FCSP Clair Hebron @PhysioChris Chris Worsfold Peter O'Sullivan We're still facing a clinical reality where qualitative research is considered less "scientific". As such there are still barriers to publication in traditional Physiotherapy journals, IMHO. Things are changing slowly. They need to pick up pace!

Agree totally Chloe. Such an encouraging and enlightening presentation. Many challenges but also so much opportunity to improve care and value. Would be great to be able get a list of the website/papers/books that Alf recommended.

Don’t get me wrong,I’m not a ‘mobs’ junky, but I’m prepared 2use it as an adjunct. I’m saddened, disheartened & confused as 2why some of us are so positivist- it’s either this or that. Can we not respect all elements 4 what they may offer at a particular time?Sally York (She/Her) Will king
