Revisiting some thoughts, and a paper I published in 2017, on what it might mean to 'decolonise the economics curriculum': seanmuller.co.za/notesfromthepe… I gather there's a book coming out on the subject...

I remember as an undergraduate having to pay a ridiculous amount of money for a game theory textbook, no longer any excuse for that now when some of the best are available for free:

My recent letter on South African monetary policy: 22 years since Joseph Stiglitz compared lowering the South African inflation target to 'prescribing a frontal lobotomy for a headache', yet the discourse on monetary policy remains shallow & dubious. businesslive.co.za/bd/opinion/let…

My latest paper - connecting philosophy of science & decolonisation - has just been published in the journal Epistemology and Philosophy of Science, alongside a range of interesting contributions from Feyerabend experts and other philosophers of science pdcnet.org/eps/content/ep…

My latest letter on economic policy-related matters in South Africa. The rehashing of the same rhetoric and the usual suspects, who have little to show for the public money and authority they've been given, is a recipe for economic stagnation. businesslive.co.za/bd/opinion/let…

In my recent book I dedicated a couple of pages to criticising the newly dominant 'single blind' peer review model in economics in which author names are provided to reviewers. Very glad to see that this report recommends a return to double-blind&partial extension to co-editors.

Presenting some work tomorrow on the change in South African higher education funding for students (NSFAS) that happened in 2017/18. Open to all and in hybrid format:

The move to a coalition government in South Africa has raised the prospect of Parliament amending Budget proposals. This is an area I've worked on, irregularly, since 2014. Here are two 'explainers' I wrote about that process: pmg.org.za/parliament-rev… theconversation.com/explainer-the-…

My latest academic paper has just been published: a critical examination of arguments by some philosophers of science for what they call 'crowd-sourced peer review'. Open access and downloadable here: tandfonline.com/doi/abs/10.108…

All the reporting I've seen & read on potential amendments by Parliament to South Africa's 2025 Budget contains significant errors. Unfortunately it seems the media don't want to ask actual experts & would prefer to misinform the public while bumbling towards an understanding.
