Joe Brolly may have just given us our #Aras25 'Pee Flynn' moment. Given his declared dislike for one candidate, most would make an assumption as to whose campaign he was directing his offensive 'simulations' towards.

Believe it or not, but this could feature in upcoming interviews/debates during the (Irish) Presidential campaign. The candidates' views on this may be of public interest. rte.ie/news/world/202…

Finished reading ‘Charlie vs Garret’ by @anmailleach. As Theresa Reidy 🇺🇦 says in cover endorsement, ‘a riveting read’. Apparently one Taoiseach (neither Charlie nor Garret) liked Paddy whiskey and ‘was able to function on prodigious amounts, a bottle a day, sometimes more’ (p. 61).

In presidential election, some Labour supporters will vote for CC, some for HH. For others, the words of leader Brendan Corish speaking in Dáil 28 Oct 1976 in aftermath of Cearbhall Ó Dálaigh resignation, will apply: ‘To the Labour Party, quite frankly, it is not that important.’

This qn arises a lot: if I vote No 1 for JG and No 2 for another cand, will my vote be transferable or will it be deemed invalid since JG has withdrawn? @eleccommirl is doing a great job &, given the uncertainty, maybe could publicise this issue & supply the authoritative answer.

No sign here that the lack of a NI referendum is the only thing preventing NI voting in favour of becoming part of a united Ireland. Long-term factors are working in that direction but notion that referendum needs to happen by the end of this decade really isn’t evidence-based.
