Not saying there isn't an AI bubble - there probably is. But I do believe that AI is worse today than it will ever be, and this "lack of intelligence" argument will look silly in a year or two.

AI safety is more than just asking a Chatbot AI to do something bad. Should businesses have access to facial recognition? Should governments give us social credit scores? Do banks have to tell their customers when they use AI to make loan decisions?

Do you ever remember an old Kickstarter project you backed years ago and wonder what happened to it? Kickstarter itself was such a great idea that seemed destined to fail eventually. Give money to this creative idea ($100!), and most of them don't actually get completed.

My Computer Science professor in 1990 used to deduct points if we used "x" and "i" as variable names. So you end up with intLongVariableNames that you accidentally misspell in a loosely typed language, which causes a bug weeks later.

OpenAI’s App SDK is a genius move. The goal: make ChatGPT the default interface for everyone, where you can talk to all your apps. ChatGPT becomes the new OS, the place where people spend most of their time. Ironically, Anthropic invented MCP, but it makes OpenAI unbeatable.

Economic growth is literally everything. People fondly remember the times of high GDP growth and treat the ones with low growth as the dark ages. Growth means positive sum thinking becomes the optimal strategy and this is the bedrock of civic society. We must build more

I've been watching a lot of "AI will be the ruin of us" content over the past 24 hours. My gut feeling over AI is that we will survive just fine because we always survive just fine. But it's also tempting to get depressed over it. It's a valid feeling as well.

Whatever law forces websites to ask for cookie permission every single time you visit one needs to be scrapped and rethought. Make it a universal choice (always accept cookies, never accept cookies) and stop with the popups.

Years ago, I saw a woman walking while using her phone. She turned to cross the road and was within inches of being flattened by a dump truck. I absolutely believe phones (while driving or walking) are part of the uptick in pedestrian deaths.

Codex is so good, and is going to get so amazing. I am having a hard time imagining what creating software at the end of 2026 is going to look like.
