Before the MSP of the Year is announced, there is a Special Commendation: Audrey Nicoll MSP has been recognised for her work championing the Freshwater Pearl Mussel with Buglife. Audrey has joined multiple visits to see her species and often mentions her role in Scottish Parliament.

And the winner is… Colin Smyth MSP! Colin is the Nature Champion for the Badger with Scottish Badgers and the MSP Nature Champion of the Year 2024! Colin has been a constant campaigner for the species and a prominent voice in support of the recent ban on snaring.
