A great example of why we recommend closing internal doors before you head to bed. Closed doors can help reduce the spread of fire and smoke, keeping your escape route free. Get our night time checklist here: rb.gy/8fe79a

It only takes a minute for a cooking fire to start. If you’re tired, been drinking or taking drugs, you’ll be: less alert to signs of fire more likely to fall asleep less likely to wake up if a fire starts If you’re drinking or taking drugs, don’t cook. 👉 rb.gy/ikj6n

Cigarette ends can smoulder undetected for hours if not put out properly. If you're tired or have been drinking it's safer to smoke outside or standing at an open window or external door. More info: firescotland.gov.uk/at-home/smokin…

Even a small bag of rubbish can create enough smoke to fill a whole close / common stair. Items left in a common stair / close are often deliberately set on fire. Keep it clear.
