Great Science and Policy panel discussion at GYSS2021 @gyss_sg. Highlighted comment from Prof. Tan Chorh Chuan “Early-career scientists wanting to get involved in science policy should practice to explain their science factually, simply, & clearly” ✨✨✨ #GYSS2021

The random laser configures itself by thermophoresis around a heated Janus particle, and only when the cluster is large enough, and light trapping effective enough, lasing action occurs, as measured by the spectral narrowing plotted below.

New preprint out on how to harness quantum graph theory to simulate lasers on networks arxiv.org/abs/2203.16974. Thanks Dhruv Saxena, Riccardo Sapienza as well as the rest of the team for this long but rewarding journey!

Wonderful collaboration between groups in UCL Chemistry and Imperial Physics! We got these measurements during the pandemic! 😷💪 Here is a pic of us in the lab, with Manish Trivedi & Wai Kit Ng. Check out our paper in Nature Physics

Colloidal random lasers are hard to design and control. Research in Nature Physics shows that combining optically controlled micro-heaters with thermophilic particles attracted by them leads to microlasers with programmable and reversible patterns. go.nature.com/3o6McFC
