An excellent first theatre trip for our GCSE and A Level Drama pupils last night to see a re-imagined ‘Our Country’s Good’ for the 21st century. A really layered production with much to unpick, particularly in considering the cultural relevance from the 1700s to today.

Science is thriving beyond the classroom, with our Lower School Science Club making balloon rockets, and our Dissection Club cutting up fish over lunchtime...

Yesterday, 109 Fifth Form Geographers travelled to the London Olympic Park in Stratford! They spent the day conducting Human Geography analysis in an urban environment, including taking pedestrian and traffic counts, mapping land use, and doing resident questionaries.

¡Hola and Happy European Day of Languages! Over lunchtime the Library was transformed into a lively multilingual hub as pupils stopped at tables to learn phrases in other languages, including Finnish, Czech, Yoruba, Dutch, Punjabi, Swedish and Italian, plus several more!

We've had a double whammy of Deutsch learning as our A Level and Third Form Germanists go on two trips to the Goethe-Institut London! The Third Form interacted with a German speaking robot whilst our Sixth Formers translated the first paragraph of Kafka's 'Metamorphosis'!

Two great talks in the past two days. On Thursday the Sixth Form heard Florence Schechter, Director of the world's first Vagina Museum, and today we welcomed Ed Grenby (OA) to speak about his career in travel journalism!

"Everyone's been so lovely." Last week we released interviews with our younger new pupils; this week we're hearing from our new Sixth Formers on their impressions of School so far, and which co-curriculars they've been getting involved in!

Happy National Poetry Day! We hope you enjoy watching some of our First Formers act out 'Jabberwocky' by Lewis Carroll, the famous nonsense poem which gave us words like 'chortle' and 'galumphing'. Watch out for more poetry later today...

Part 2 of National Poetry Day - Third and First Formers reading a wonderful little poem by William Carlos Williams. If you missed Part 1, check out our last post featuring a spirited performance of 'Jabberwocky' by Lewis Carroll!

Happy Navratri to those beginning their celebrations today! Over lunchtime our Hindu Society had great fun learning the steps to some folk dancing, kindly led by our Deputy Head of School Anoushka.

Last night was the eve of our inaugural Mick Stout Memorial Masterclass, an evening in which four of our Sixth Form vocalists were coached by professional singer and coach Lawrence Broomfield - all in front of an audience!

It was a pleasure to welcome back Kayode Bola (OA) to speak to pupils about the importance of learning Black history. His talk opened the door to questions about his own experience at the School, how to handle racism, and reflections on the Black experience.

Last Friday some unusual visitors crawled and slithered their way into a First Form Science lesson... Our young pupils had great fun learning about Leopard geckos, milk snakes and the colour-changing Panther chameleon from visiting Biologist Mr Khan.

Last night saw pupils visiting the English National Opera for the second time this term to see Puccini’s La Bohème. Whilst they admired the sets and the blend of comedy and tragedy, they especially enjoyed recognising a tune from Act II they sing every week as one of Mr Mosley’s choir warmups!
