Teams from Swansea Bay NHS and Hywel Dda UHB have been sharing their #SafeCareCollaborative improvement journey, discussing their learning, challenges and successes to date.

1/ Today, a group of learners from across health boards and trusts in Wales are together in-person for Module 3, as part of cohort 44 of the Scottish Improvement Leader (ScIL) Programme. #ScILc44

2/ The day started with a welcome from Dr Gethin Pugh, Clinical Lead for Improvement Cymru Academy followed by Deputy Director of Improvement Cymru, @domage75’s session on the history of improvement science and the role it has across public services in Wales. #ScILc44

3/ David Maxwell, SCIL Programme lead at The Scottish Improvement Leader (ScIL) programme facilitated two sessions on the role of motivation in improvement. #ScILc44

David Maxwell The Scottish Improvement Leader (ScIL) programme 4/ To round off a great first day, the group learnt how to develop driver diagrams for their improvement projects. The group of learners will be back together tomorrow for their next module. #ScILc44

5/ Today is module 4 of #ScILc44. The morning started off with group presentations with the learners using improvement project charters to direct their #QI projects.

6/ @domage75 introduced the Model for Improvement Framework, with a focus on theory and prediction when planning a PDSA cycle. Later, it was time for measurement, looking at data for improvement. #ScILc44

7/ At the end of day 2, the learners were in breakout groups, learning to identify technical tools to better understand the system they are working in and apply these in their #QI projects. #ScILc44

9/ David Maxwell expanded further into measurement and Dr Gethin Pugh held a second session on technical tools for understanding the system. Both key parts of #QI. #ScILc44

10/ After yesterday’s introduction to the Model for Improvement Framework, the group delved further into PDSA cycles, learning about testing of change ideas. #ScILc44
