There had been a terror plot in Vienna - this entire furore over Taylor Swift's security is utterly ridiculous, Little Englander, pathetic and damaging to the reputation of the country.

This paragraph is particularly grim, but the whole document is terrible. It's an example of what happens when you invent an enemy - in this case "the bureaucratic class" - and then pin the blame for all society's ills on them.

This is a very good article. I think it gives another example of what I call the “Post Office Effect”. People don’t take an interest in an event unless it proves them right or someone else wrong. When it doesn’t support or undermine some well worn position they (we) ignore it.
