As Coronavirus puts us into uncharted waters, tonight I have joined w 15 health leaders to publish an open letter in USA TODAY with an urgent, lifesaving message: Everyone who can, #StayHome. Here's what it means for you, officials, and health workers usatoday.com/story/opinion/…

Life in Singapore (243 cases, 0 deaths) has pretty much returned to normal. People are walking around, mostly without masks. Shops & restaurants are open. Big events & school activities such as tournaments were canceled, but schools remained open unless there was a case.

Libraries and librarians around the globe continue to provide their communities with outreach, resources, and tools as many prepare to stay home. Remember your local library has digital resources that can be accessed anywhere, anytime. meet.libbyapp.com

For those wondering if the internet can handle all of this, Kanopy, a provider of streaming media to many libraries, got so slammed today with traffic that many people couldn’t access it.

What will go down as the biggest breakdown in the US response to #COVID19 is the lack of test kits. South Korea and the US had their 1st patients on Jan 20 and Jan 21, respectively. Look at the difference in daily testing. By March 4th, SK was ~18,000 per day.

Rn my tweets are 1/2 panic for all the #HealthcareHeroes and 1/2 "Hey! Check out all these wonderful digital resources from your library!" I apologize for the drastic swings.

Thank you, Jennifer M. Hill! Anything we can do in the meantime? Get more masks from people that may have them? Prepare necessary housing alternatives for #HealthCareWorkers that may get sick? Or can't stay with family that are high risk?

People on the front lines? #HealthCareWorkers? Where are y'all staying to protect your families? Hotels? We must think about this as we think about stopping the spread.

Our current health care system does not have the doctors and nurses we currently need. During this crisis, we need to mobilize medical residents, retired medical professionals, and other medical personnel to help us deal with this crisis.

A “wartime president” should be looking out for the troops, which right now means health workers. Invoking the #DefenseProductionAct to generate more PPE is needed and overdue. Time for action. nytimes.com/2020/03/19/hea…
