“The climate crisis is an energy crisis”. Oliver Carpenter - lead curator of Science Museum’s new Adani Green Energy Gallery. Tonight’s #multistory UCA School of Arch talked about how to portray, exhibit and categorise such a fast evolving challenge.

My kids attend an independent after-school technology/coding ‘lab’, in a shopfront, in a dense mixed-used part of the city (Valencia 🇪🇸). The place is open four days a week for a total of about 10 hours. The groups have about 6-8 kids paying about €10 for 1.5 hour sessions.

i've said this before, but i feel like there's a bell curve for optimal home size, and past a certain point, it feels like you're living in a commercial space (e.g., malls, shopping courts, resorts, etc). doesn't feel cozy or private.

A brilliant way to end our semester 1 series of #multistory lectures focusing on energy. Salvage, bricolage, re-use, recycling, circularity, collage and - amazingly - the pleasures of architecture. UCA School of Arch cat rossi

There’s something fucked about the fascination with trabeated stone. For millennia it’s been chewed at, chased to abstraction. Repeatedly exhumed and revived, even after Roman concrete, even after Gothic vaults, after Rundbogenstil. Still keeps coming back from the dead, a thread

I must have been incredibly naive, but I didn't realise until very recently that some people think you must be a "bad" academic if you teach outside the Russell Group. That's simply not how the system works. So I wrote this to explain the caprices of academic hiring.

Alexandra Wilson Was shocked when one academic said to me about another: ‘if they are so good, why are they teaching at a place like X?’ I can think of some teaching at post-92s who I would rate considerably higher than even a few teaching at Oxbridge.

One of the reasons that universities are facing a crisis is because the sector has allowed the media and the government to frame higher education purely in terms of individual value - study is reduced to little more than higher earnings that benefit individual graduates. But
