I'm still baffled by how cheap DC parking permits are, compared to rental costs for the same space. And like, the costs of building roads.

Fascinating study. A third of ocean plastic waste comes from rivers in The Philippines. Why? Risk factors for ocean plastics include proximity of cities to rivers, rivers to oceans (hence islands), & poor waste management. 1600 high-risk rivers identified. ourworldindata.org/ocean-plastics

We're hiring a person to do what I do in D.C. in Maryland and Virginia. Same level of seniority, with a necessary emphasis on land-use reform alongside transit, duh. It's a big job. Here's the posting: ggwash.org/view/83572/wer…

Just learnt that the New York Stock Exchange began with a few guys trading on a street corner in the open air under a sycamore tree (later upgraded to a coffee house). (Credit to the fun The Gilder Lehrman Institute of American History Capitalism In American History course)

Nice exploration of the "razors edge of gentrification" and attempts to get community investments right (re the 11th St Bridge Park development in SE DC)
