A lot of influential science has come from Smithsonian Migratory Bird Center ornithologists who created these Font Hill plots, and so much amazing research has been done since the inception decades ago. I think about this often while taking in the beauty of it all. #FontHill #Jamaica #Ornithology

Something incredible happened today! I saw a strange bird foraging near a net, unlike any other migrant we see in Jamaica. I lifted my binos and IT WAS A KIRTLANDS WARBLER 😱 This is the first known record of a KIWA in JA. I still can’t believe it! #ornithology #JamBirds2019

In Myanmar's tropical forests 99 million years ago, a baby bird left the nest for the first time. It didn't get far. audubon.org/news/see-ancie…

Currently, Jamaicans are fighting to keep their land wild as it is threatened by mining and development. I have the privilege of studying birds in 🇯🇲 and their endemic species are breathtaking (not just birds), important, and deserve to be protected. #savecockpitcountry

Got my acorns and #AmericanChestnuts planted in the #BlueJay and titmice caches I found earlier this year. Here’s hoping we see some lil’ oak and chestnut seedlings in a couple months! @chestnut1904 School of Environment and Natural Resources (SENR) #ornithology #RestorationEcology

Ever found a big, brown spider in your woods or in your house? I made a video all about the dark fishing spider, which is one of the most common “giant” spiders in Eastern North America. *spoiler alert: they’re harmless! #spider #scicomm #fishingspider youtu.be/hRuMES1VjG8

New Swainson's Warbler paper out! 🚨 SWWA breeding in LA and wintering in Jamaica tracked to identify an East/West migratory divide. Migration phenology and rate differed between indv. from each pop. and most birds took direct overwater diurnal flights! 😎doi.org/10.5751/JFO-00…
