This morning saw the installation of the plinth to mark the 'Crocus Garden' which we established in October 2020 to mark Rotary's efforts to eradicate Polio worldwide.

The next exciting thing from our Rotary Club

For a musical evening why not come to our popular annual Band Concert on Friday 4th November at Sandal Methodist Church at 7:30. £10 includes refreshments, with profits to Wakefield Met Band, Rotary and Sandal Methodist Charities.

We have been supporting the Children of Chernivisti Christmas Appeal, collecting donations of warm clothing and toys. Mark Jeffries, was one of the drivers who delivered the boxes to Chernivisti. He kept members informed of his progress with regular updates on WhatsApp.

We also delivered our annual Christmas food boxes, collected from members and supporters, across the Wakefield District and distributed via Homestart centres and CAP. Because of limitations on storage and distribution this year we were only able to deliver 630 boxes.

" A really good Charter Night. Atmosphere, food and speeches all excellent" was the comment from one of our more discerning members after Wakefield Chantry's Charter Night on Tuesday.

Through Cllr Melanie Jones, Rtn Mark Jeffries and his fellow Rotarians of the Chantry Rotary Club, Wakefield - kindly donated boxes of cereals, rice, jam, pasta and much more for use by Hemsworth Food Pantry - Food Bank during the school holidays.

In support of Rotary's efforts in Valencia, Wakefield Chantry Rotary Club have are working with Rotary in Valencia. To aid this effort we have set up a Just Giving page for our Spanish Floods appeal;

Some of our annual collection of food boxes and packing of supplies by members of Wakefield Chantry Rotary and our trusty supporters. This year we hope to distribute around 700 of these boxes to needy families in the area.

Update; Members and friends of Chantry Rotary Club at the CAP warehouse in Market Street, Wakefield packing Xmas Hampers for distribution to needy families in the 5 towns. The annual joint venture between CAP & Chantry will deliver nearly 600 Hampers this year.

After another very successful year in the community we wish everyone a Happy Christmas and a happy, healthy and prosperous New Year. Our celebrations with Chantry doing what it does best, having a good laugh with friends - until we will get back together in 2025.'
