Switch off / unplug all unnecessary appliances and chargers when not in use to save electricity.

Composting is a wonderful way to use the remains of food you have prepared. Not only will your garden benefit from the added nutrition, but some peels and pips sprout and can be planted!

Stale bread? Grate the bread to create your own breadcrumbs to use on top of casseroles or make croutons for your salad.

Instead of throwing away overly ripe bananas, consider making banana bread with them - the riper, the better 😉 Then place the peels in water to use as nutrient rich food for your house plants.

Freeze your food and off-cuts! Use your freezer for more than ice cubes and turn your freezer into a food saving machine.

Get creative and use up food and leftovers before purchasing anything more. While it might not always be a gourmet meal, reinventing leftovers into something else to eat saves food from waste. See how many creative ideas and recipes you can adapt to use items you already have.

The aim of the Youth Desk is to provide resources to unemployed youth that will assist them with either access to the job market or support to run their own businesses. Online training courses will be available for youth to increase/update their skills.
