In client discussions even before cost hike (for more reasons than can be noted) the era of underselling milk (esp liquid sector) is coming to an end. Went public, large round of producer meetings last week saying as a benchmark producer milk price, 34ppl needs to replace 28ppl.

In light of the huge increase in Dairy Ag costs over the past 12 months, we are, along with our clients questioning the short & long term viability of milk prodn in the uk. Costs over the past 12 months have inflated by a min of 6ppl on feed, fert, fuel,electric & Labour alone.

Maybe it’s about time we worried a bit less about slavery in the 18th Century, and a bit more about child slavery today in Congo’s lithium mines, to provide batteries for our clean, green EVs.
