I think this is where I'm stuck. right here. Don't EVER question the literal fact that black women have to work 5x as hard ever again. This is sick.

It's not our job to make students feel better about America. (Release yourself from that pressure, if you wake up to this and feel it.) Students get to feel however they want to feel about America and our politics - today and any other day.

ATM, what I feel the absolute worst about? Knowing that I can say to my kids “we’ll probably be just fine.” If anyone has words for supporting them in an age-appropriate way that doesn’t rely on our privilege, I’m here for that advice.

Couple things on my mind today: 1. Thank you for everyone who knocked doors, donated, wrote postcards, etc. It might not feel like it today, but you did good. 2. I know folks are going to want to disengage for a bit. That’s OK. Just don’t give up. This fight still matters.

We lived in south Alabama for 21 months (yes, I counted) when my kids were very little. We did not have fluoride in the drinking water. When we moved back to OH, my 5yo had 7 cavities. I still brushed & glossed his teeth most of the time, so it wasn’t for lack of care.

We must not grow weary - for our work has never been in vain… Take the time you need to pause. On Sunday, we will gather to celebrate our wins, lean on one another, and discuss the way forward. #WINwithBlackWomen

I don’t know what stage of grief or which trauma response this is, but I’m here as well and very much down for this level of petty.
