The HPE iLO UI is… well it is a UI. Listen, I don’t want to “Momentary Press” or “Press and Hold”. I want to shutdown or reboot.

#Vikunja for project management and to-do lists is a great addition to the home lab! The process to install it on Debian is 2 commands and it works great in a proxmox LXC!

The good news is I learned a lot about VLANs in proxmox today. The bad news is I broke DNS multiple times in the process. Everything is working now and backed up.

"It depends for 500, Alex." What type of MFA are you asking about? TOTP codes? How are the secret keys stored? In a mariadb or mysql database? Great, is the database encrypted at rest? Does authentication to the database also require MFA? What type of MFA? TOTP codes?

This is a great example of a scenario where making your own ChatGPT bot to teach you with a simulated sql server would be useful

One of the advantages of homeschooling is that you can teach some cool things. One child is learning ciphers (working on the Atbash and Affine ciphers currently). They have an internal PBX to learn about phones and a linux desktop. And they have chickens. 😂

I saw a guy DNS'ing today but by adding hostnames in a local hosts file instead of adding DNS records in the internal DNS servers.

This reminds me of a former client (emphasis on former) who ran an accounting firm. They had four desktops and no servers. The clients' financial files were in a shared folder on the owner's desktop. The owner's computer was infected after clicking sketchy links on a p*rn site.

Dad, is that (UniFi Network) what controls the whole network? Yes, it is. Can you make a wireless network for me to use? Sure, and you can have your own VLAN too!

One of my children picked up a USB adapter (not storage device) and asked if it could be used to steal passwords. That led to, “Well… no but a FlipperZero can if you write a RubberDucky script to do that” along with a discussion about scripting, laws, and ethics.
