In a lovely turn of events I’ve been given the leave for my interview 🥹. I could cry!

Today I was asked by an amazing ophthal consultant: do you know of any other female surgeons you’ve met with a PhD and an MD, i do not, I bet that number is small, even fewer in orthopaedics. She finds it impressive I want to go for it. I’m just impressed to hear her support 🩵

When asked about what you can offer a team during interview does being able to make a bangin wild garlic pesto count 👀🫢

An application cycle I have essentially prepped for for years, but so glad to formally be offered to role of orthopaedic research fellow at my dream hospital NHS Golden Jubilee 🤩 a big thank you to everyone who’s supported my journey so far 😁

Nothing like having a PhD in engineering and being stumped by taking the tredmill apart for moving - Nordic Track I would personally like to say that grommet is the most unecessary component alongside the absolute hell of taking the arm covers off 🫠. Never again.

Things that have flourished since moving out of a toxic tenement building where I was being harassed and stalked by a neighbour: my peace lily 🌷. I’m taking that fully as a sign 🙏🏽

With sign ups next week it’s time for a disclosure 👀: Cocodona 250miler 2026 🫡. Will be making the most of my next training cycle for 13 valleys 180km to carry it through 🤌🏽

Still holds true, no local teaching in 4 of 6 rotations. No opportunities to go to theatre or clinic in 5 of 6. No practical clinical skills teaching in 6 of 6. Service provision in horrific rotas present throughout. 2 t&o jobs and not once was I supported to career develop.1/2

2/2. Luckily I have formed a fantastic relationship with the NHS Golden Jubilee ortho squad who have supported my career development for which I can further work towards over the next 2 years as a research fellow. No thanks to the FY jobs.
