Khawaja’s 2015/16 BBL campaign started with this imperious 109* (70) against Melbourne stars filled with then or future internationals, included a few (/ future) World Cup or WorldT20 winning bowlers. < 9M ago, one of them was PotM in 2015 WC final. #BBL

A 38½ year old and a 37 year old scoring at 7½ an over without a hint of bother. Kohli has a crazy record here in ODIs. Last time he played was in 2019 and made 123 off 95! India lost to Australia that day though (Khawaja’s 104 got the PotM in a comeback from 0-2). #INDvSA

Kohli already has 5 sixes in this inns. He’s hit more in an ODI inns only twice before. 7 sixes in 2013 Jaipur (100* off 52 v Aus): where his career batting avg went above 50 permanently. 8 sixes in 2023 Trivandrum (166* off 110 v SL): went past Mahela to be Top 5 agg. #INDvSA

Everyone knows that I consider Tendulkar the best batter of my lifetime. Lara was not as consistent, sometimes due to non-cricketing reasons. Lara’s peaks were extraordinary. People know the Test ones; but often forget the ODI one. ICC all time rankings give some indication…

Top 10 all time highest Test batting ratings. Any surprises? Bradman’s highest of 961 was after 1934 Oval Test. He reached 961 again at MCG 1948. Unfortunately, he tore a rib muscle and retired on 57 during an innings win. Else, might’ve got even higher. #Cricket

Century no.52 for the ODI giant. Will this be his 1st double ton? 119* off 107 now with 11.1 overs left. 14th calendar year with an ODI ton for Kohli. PS: Tendulkar had 19 consecutive calendar years with a ton from his maiden one to retirement. #INDvSA

Unlike Gilchrist - Gillespie, there’s no real link for Kohli - Bumrah. Anyway, since Bumrah’s debut, Kohli’s ODI stats: - when JB played: 4496 at 74.9 (96.6 SR). - when JB didn’t: 2690 at 54.9 (98.0 SR). In Test #Cricket, 2380 at 34.5 with JB and 1582 at 52.7 w/o JB! #INDvSA

Brian Lara may be the most underrated ODI player on ‘#Cricket Twitter’. Early 1993 to 1997 against Test playing nations minus Zim. These are the ones with 1000+ runs at 35+ average. When you split into diff continents + strong teams, there’s daylight between Lara and the rest.

Is that spectacular 100 from Kohli (and a resounding win) going to take the #Cricket Twitter and media heat off Gambhir? Naturally, any timeline is dominated by Indian Cricket updates. Earlier this week, it was all obituaries; now it’s just overflowing with euphoria. #INDvSA

Who’s the better batter in Test #Cricket? AB de Villiers: - 8765 runs at 50.66 avg, 11.5 tons per 100 inns - RoSA avg: 33.24 (diff 17.42, ratio 1.52) Or Virat Kohli: - 9230 runs at 46.85 avg, 14.3 tons per 100 inns - RoI avg: 30.35 (diff 16.50, ratio 1.54) RTs appreciated

Steve Waugh’s interview 2 months after Steve Smith’s ODI & T20I debut, and 3 months before his Test debut in 2010. Khawaja made his Test debut 9M after this interview. Starc & Pattinson made their Test debut 1Y 8M after the interview; and Hazlewood 4Y 8M after. #Ashes #Cricket

This is a false statement. Gary Sobers wouldn’t have played more Tests today. In fact, Gary Sobers wouldn’t have been good enough to play in today’s competitive era. Lyon is a better batter than Sobers; and Khawaja is a better bowler than Sobers. That’s my cricketing take!😬

Interestingly enough Usman Khawaja made the highest score for Australia in that 3rd inns on a cracked up pitch. Indian pace quartet was breathing fire, especially Shami bowling like Marshall and Wasim rolled into one bowler. Khawaja batted for 5 hours for a series leveling knock!

Obviously I haven’t read every article or tweet about this CricViz contradiction. But, of the dozen plus I’ve seen, not a single one mentioned that 5-hour 72 from Khawaja. And, the quarter plus misses/edges. Maybe CView was right about the #Cricket journalists. #Ashes #AUSvENG
