Interesting encounter with 🇧🇪 scholar Dr. Rakoen Maertens from University of Oxford who researches the psychology of dis- and misinformation, fake news, propaganda etc. A relevant topic at the 🇺🇳 as well, as the UN DGC recently published the “Global principles for information integrity”
In addition, older age and scoring high on the MIST scale by Rakoen Maertens et al. quite robustly predicted more behavioral support of conspiracy theories. Against our expectations, the conspiracy mentality questionnaire did not significantly predict any outcome.
