Even before #Roe fell, getting an abortion in the US was difficult or impossible for many. #AbortionAccess has only gotten worse as clinic-based care has disappeared in 14 states. See my latest analysis with Guttmacher Institute colleagues. guttmacher.org/2022/10/100-da…
After collecting & analyzing data for Guttmacher Institute's Abortion Provider Census, one of several findings stands out: Our research found that abortion was increasing but the end of #RoeVWade means that fewer people are actually be able to get care now. guttmacher.org/news-release/2…
US abortion access was already precarious before #Roe fell. My Guttmacher Institute colleagues & I found that 89% of US counties had no clinics providing abortions in 2020 & 38% of women aged 15–44 lived in those counties. Since then, access has only deteriorated. guttmacher.org/article/2022/1…
The data are clear: Not everyone who has an abortion identifies as cisgender or heterosexual. My Guttmacher Institute colleagues and I found that LGBTQ+ people make up 16% of abortion patients—an estimated 149,000 individuals who deserve equitable access to care. guttmacher.org/2023/06/many-1…
Published scientific papers are retracted all the time. The retraction of an unsound study on #mifepristone is not some dark conspiracy—it’s the scientific process working as intended. Our op-ed by Rachel K. Jones & Kelly Baden explains: thehill.com/opinion/health…
Unsound science & misinformation. That’s what lies behind the case against mifepristone. It’s also why the Supreme Court's only reasonable option is to preserve full access to this critical drug. New analysis with my Guttmacher Institute colleagues. guttmacher.org/2024/03/eight-…
