It's a bit upsetting that APSA never explicitly addressed the travel restrictions many international scholars face and even when I am trying to present/participate remotely in my panels, most sites didn't have HDMI or audio cables to accommodate that.

I’m so lucky that I get to navigate political science with such amazing people! It was an awesome apsa, especially because we were able to have a lab reunion #apsa2022

This APSA was one for the books. I got to present my JMP, got great feedback, did Gender and the Security Sector Lab things, saw new research, met new friends, hung out with old friends, got to see my advisors, met some of the Bunchees, and learned about some exciting departments #APSA2022

The main advice I would give to a new PhD student? Pick a mentor that invests in you: the scholar and the human being. The rest really is tertiary. My second piece of advice: if they don't, fire them and get a new mentor.

As my good friend pointed out yesterday, it doesn't seem like the protests in Iran are getting enough attention, especially from academics who study gender. Check out Peyman Asadzade's article, keep in mind the immense risk that the protestors, esp. women, are undertaking...

W.E.B. Du Bois is a major International Relations theorist, and his writings should be standard reading for international relations students. If you're reading Morgenthau (or Waltz or etc), you need to also read Du Bois. [THREAD]

What "counts" as "International Relations"? Cynthia Enloe challenged IR scholars to answer that question, turning our understanding of international politics upside down. [THREAD]
